The trending hashtag #ChickFilA comes from the announcement that the company will stop funding towards the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Paul Anderson Youth Home and the Salvation Army, organizations that have criticized LGBTQIA+ allies.
The verified Chick-fil-A twitter handle has not tweeted about this press release. Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos said in an exclusive interview with bisnow.com, “…we thought we needed to be clear about our message.”
There is no shortage of applauders and criticizers. So far as I have been combing through tweets, I have seen many Twitter accounts criticize this move saying Chick-fil-A is not standing up for its moral integrity.
"There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” said #ChickFilA President and COO Tim Tassopoulos.
You were being clear when you upheld Biblical principals and supported Christian groups Now you're clear as mud. https://t.co/kwYmjJaC5a

Many accounts are in favor of this and call it long overdue.
It's about time. It's sad that you have to kick some people in the wallet to get them to be decent human beings..#ChickfilA #LGBTQ #BetterPeoplehttps://t.co/wjiprIXWMx

The language used in some of the tweets criticizing defunding these charities is demeaning and borders on hate speech. I did not include the most vulgar tweets as I don’t feel comfortable reposting.
Chick-fil-A has officially surrendered to the same cry baby idiots who can’t figure out which bathroom to use & has stopped all donations to a Christian charity that the outrage mob has deemed “anti-LGBT”
Very disappointing, @ChickfilA!

Other tweets speak about how society can use their dollars and platforms to pressure large corporations.
#ChickFilA ok boomers you guys realize they never stopped being homophobic, right ? they just stopped donating to homophobic organizations. for money. like stop having a tantrum

A few Twitter accounts suggest people are cautious because of Chick-fil-A’s past history.
Just a reminder…
"#ChickFilA has famously promised in the past that it would cease donations to anti-LGBTQ groups after a 2012 controversy involving anti-LGBTQ comments, however, it kept donating."https://t.co/QzyHabfrFU

Sarcasm was common throughout the hashtagged tweets.
But will #ChickFilA taste the same without the hate? 🤔
