Going viral is a lot harder than it seems.

Background:

Growing up in a big family, at holiday family gatherings, there were always two tables to accommodate everyone. One for the adults and one for the children. Of course, as a kid, the kids table was always more fun but once we all grew up, sitting at the kids table became more of a chore than a fun thing to do. As the youngest in my family, I saw my 30-year-old cousin graduate from the kids table to the adults table. Finally, I did too,and it was one of my biggest accomplishments to date. Family gatherings have definitely become more intimate as everyone grows up and lives their own lives but for me sitting at the adult table is pretty cool! Below is a post that gave me some inspiration however I was unable to embed it because the instagram account is on private.

Objectives:

My objective was to obtain at least 500 views on my Imgur.com link.

Analysis:

I was able to obtain over 500 views. I tried very hard sharing the link to my meme on multiple platforms such as Facebook, Snapchat, GroupMe and Twitter. I found that my view count remained unchanged for a long period of time even when I was sharing it to a new audience. I found the Imgur.com showed that I had way less views than I actually had when I went to embed the post which is very misleading and should be tweaked on the back end of Imgur. I even tried to make a new meme and ran into the same problem. I also was disappointed that my link was taken off of Facebook where I feel that I have a lot of interaction and engagement with my family and friends who will always be willing to help me succeed. I think the subject of my meme resonated with many but maybe I could have included more relevant hashtags to get more engagement on Imgur.com. I also think since I do not have a large following on my Twitter, many people did not see the link.

My meme received 789 views which is great for my first go round promoting a meme. Now that I have more tools about how to go viral, I will use them in the future.
