Only God can judge me (but i’ll give it a try)

Twitter:

Start # of Followers: 322

End # of Followers: 351

In the beginning of the semester I had 322 followers. Although I frequently used Twitter as a source for news and entertainment, I very rarely tweeted. The reason I hardly tweeted was because I was simply not interested in writing my own tweets, but I enjoyed scrolling through the timeline and seeing what other people and other accounts had to say. By the end of the semester I gained 29 followers and ended with a total of 351 followers. I believe my rise in followers had to do with the fact that several of my tweets had great success and extensive engagement. I also believe I gained a few followers by following some students in my class. The percentage of growth is about 16%. It’s clear that not tweeting was not working for me, so once I actually began writing and posting my own content my follower number increased and users started engaging with my posts.

Klout

Start Score: 17

End Score: 50

As far as my Klout score is concerned, there was a difference of 33 points between the first day of the semester and April 20th. My peak Klout score occurred on March 11th. The score was 55 and I believe I earned my highest score that day because that is the day I updated my profile picture on Facebook, and I earned close to 200 likes on that photo. My lowest score within the past 90 days was 17. I believe my social media presence is strong and as I continue to post more engaging and interesting content on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, my Klout score will increase.

I enjoyed creating this post because I had never before used the “poll” feature on Twitter. The reason I chose these topics was because they were relevant at the time, and I genuinely wanted to know the opinions of my followers about these two people. The results of this poll allowed me form the insight that the followers who cared to respond to this poll care more about politics than they do sports. From this information I can assume that a majority of my followers, including those who did not vote, care more about politics and Tomi Lahren than they care about basketball and Grayson Allen. I received a total of 17 votes, which, in my opinion, is more important than the amount of likes I received (2). After posting this poll I realized I should have written #DukeMBB and #TomiLahren instead of tagging those two accounts because I may have gotten more engagement had I used hashtags instead of tags.

This post contains a graphic created by my friend (shoutout to Mikaela) to inform people, primarily students, on how to stay safe when they are drinking during a night called “Bid Night.” I believe this post was successful and received 5 likes because of how engaging the actual image is. I also believe it was successful because of the date on which it was posted. February is the month that most Bid Night parties occur, so the relevance of the graphic enthused my followers. This post received 543 impressions and 59 engagements, though it did not receive any retweets or replies.

Anyone with eyes can see that the tweet I posted on March 22nd  is identical to the tweet I posted a month prior on February 22nd. The reason I posted the exact tweet a month apart was to see if there would be a change in engagement, and there was. This tweet received less likes than the first tweet (only 2 likes), though it received 36 more impressions than the first tweet. I believe this tweet received less likes because there likely were no Bid Night parties in the month of March, so the relevance of the graphic was less significant. Regardless of the amount of likes this tweet received I really like this graphic and I am glad I was able to post it twice.

This post contains two different photos of my girlfriend and I posing in front of the famous bean statue in Chicago on one of the coldest days of the year. Fun fact: Although commonly referred to as “The Bean,” the sculpture’s official name is Cloud Gate. The skills I used in this post were photo editing and combining more than a single photo in a tweet. I believe this post received a high number of impressions and engagements because the photos are cute and my friends and followers on Twitter also think my relationship is cute. The post received 5 likes, and I believe another tactic that was helpful was using the hashtag #Chicago, because anyone who searched for this hashtag would have seen my post.

This was one of my favorite tweets for many reasons. I created this tweet in a very short amount of time because I had a time limit. I thought of the copy and found a picture (thank you, Google) within a few minutes, and I am proud of the success this post has. I received 8 likes, 632 impressions, and 26 engagements on this tweet. I thought of this post because I was in the process of creating my class schedule for my final fall semester of college, and I believe it was successful because it is relevant for all college students. Who wants to have classes on Fridays? No one, that’s who.

Ah, to be back in Iceland. Analyzing this tweet makes me a little bit depressed because I would give anything to be back on top of that mountain. I would credit the success of this tweet to many things. First of all, the photo was taken with a professional fancy camera, so it is appealing and engaging. Secondly, I edited the photo well. Lastly, the hashtags I used are relevant to the photo and to the copy, so anyone searching for tweets about throwbacks or about Iceland will come across my post. This tweet received 8 likes, 632 impressions, 54 engagements and even a retweet from an account about Iceland. Woop Woop, yay for retweets!

Although the copy for this tweet is incredibly basic and overused at Syracuse, I still really enjoy this post. The skills I used to create this post were pasting Snapchat stickers overtop a normal photo and then editing the photo well. While I would like to give most of the credit to my cool ‘Cuse overalls and my friend’s snazzy Hawaiian shirt, I believe this post was successful because of the hashtags I used and because of the relevance to my followers. Most of my followers go to Syracuse, so it does not surprise me that I had a high engagement rate and many impressions on a picture taken in the Carrier Dome.

There are two kinds of people on Twitter. There are those who like Trump and retweet his tweets in a serious way, and there are those who make fun of him by tweeting in his tone. I am the later. This tweet was my first taste of fame because it got a whopping 17 likes and one retweet. Although that does not seem that great, it was to me! In hindsight I may have had more success with this tweet had I used #Trump or any other political hashtags, but you can’t edit tweets and you can’t change the past so you live and you learn.

I did not expect that a tweet that included straight forward (somewhat boring) copy and a low quality photo of half of my face would reach as many people as it did, but alas here we are! This post, which I tweeted for extra credit, ended up being one of my most popular posts. I received 19 likes, 2 retweets (one from the person I tagged- Maria Hinojosa), 2,318 impressions and 138 engagements. I believe the success of this tweet had little to do with half of my cute face, but from the fact that it was retweeted by the person I tweeted at and the hashtags I used. Many of my classmates liked the tweet and I’m sure they saw the tweet when they clicked on #NHsmc. Regardless of the awkwardness of this picture, I’m glad this post was as successful as it was!

Well, here we are at my #1 top tweet. This tweet went viral and I felt like Kim K for a brief moment. I owe all of the success of this tweet to the account @SoccerGrlProbs, which has a over 203k followers. That account retweeted my soccer-related tweet and I could not be more ecstatic. I knew that targeting this account was the right move to make for a tweet about soccer, particularly about females playing soccer, but I never thought they would retweet my content. Once @SoccerGrlProbs retweeted my tweet my impressions and engagements went through the roof. To date I received 90 likes and 17 retweets, but this number might increase still (you never know). Additionally, my post on Imgur generated incredible engagement, which will hopefully earn me an A on my viral content assignment.

Thank you for exploring my top tweets with me, feel free to give me a follow and inquire about getting my autograph whenever you please. (:
