This survey tweet garnered significantly more engagement than all of my tweets before it.  I believe that survey tweets are an easy way to increase engagement because they are fun to participate in, everyone wants their opinion to be heard, and in order to see what everyone else voted for you have to participate. I also choose a topic that is relatable to a majority of my followers.

Tweet #9

For this tweet I tweeted a gif @RoughGuides an account dedicated to traveling. In hindsight this tweet would have probably had more engagement if I would have started my tweet with “.@RoughGuides” so that all of my followers would have been able to see the post.

Tweet #10

For this tweet I tweeted at some other Newhouse broadcast journalism students who have a way greater twitter following than I do. I should have tweeted “.@” for this tweet as well.  Two of the three people I tweeted at replied and two people liked the post.

Upon examination of my tweets it is clear that posts with interesting pictures and relevant hashtags get significantly more engagement and impressions. As the semester went on I began figuring out how to ensure that more people see my tweets (not starting a tweet @, and instead using .@). I also realized that people will respond better to tweets on topics they are interested in. At the beginning of the semester I tweeted a lot of military related topics that I thought were interesting but did not really make sense to my twitter followers so the engagement on those posts was very low. Later in the semester I tried to criterial my content towards my followers which significantly increased engagement.
