In recent food news, Heinz has started a bit of an uprising among its customers. On April 11th, the Heinz team took to Twitter to create a poll to ask if their customers would purchase their newest idea, #Mayochup.
Want #mayochup in stores? 500,000 votes for “yes” and we’ll release it to you saucy Americans.

Although is it only now being marketed by Heinz, the idea of a mayonnaise + ketchup mix has been present at many dinner tables since childhood. #Mayochup has had various names over the years and has become a loved and essential condiment to family meal time. Named “Fry Sauce,” “Pink Sauce,” or “Russian Dressing,” the Twitter community is glad the world has finally caught on and recognized this delicious mix.
#mayochup is what my family calls “pink sauce”; we have been doing this for years and it’s freaking delicious on chicken

I’m SO ready for the new Heinz creation #Mayochup
For many years I’ve had to mix Ketchup & Mayo together for my son..
The fact it’s now done FOR ME is fantastic! Cheers to you @HeinzKetchup_US 👍🏻 pic.twitter.com/z5KgZhsStM— 🌸TessMcClaine🌸 (@TessMcclaine) April 13, 2018
#mayochup ? You mean Russian dressing?

And while some customers of the Heinz franchise are absolutely ecstatic about this new product, there are always two sides to every story. Naturally, the unhappy bunch has taken to Twitter to express their disdain.
Heinz has created #Mayochup and we’re confused…

It’s physically impossible to look at this #mayochup picture for more than 12 seconds without vomiting violently until you black out. pic.twitter.com/JPwKbQhSCI

Word to the wise, don’t knock it till you try it, because the delicious combo serves as a perfect addition to any American style BBQ.
Rachel,
I couldn’t help but laugh at @DJNoRequest’s tweet, because I had the exact same thought process. I grew up on Russian dressing and Thousand Island dressing, and if I ran out and wanted some, I’d mix mayo and ketchup and it would taste super similar, so what’s all the fuss!? I definitely will be giving it a try, but will it be as good as other brands’ Russian? We’ll see!!
