I, Shelby Guller, also known on Twitter as @SheebsLouise, have been working on my Twitter presence for the last 3 months. From 8/29-11/20, I went from 614 to 661 followers. So, I gained 47 followers, for a 7.11% increase. I believe that utilizing hashtags such as #socialmedia, #advertising, #digitalmedia, and others helped increase my follower count because each time I would use these, I’d find that I had new followers and engagements.
My Klout score surprisingly went up by 10 points over this period of time. It went from 54 to 65, which represents a 20% increase. Throughout the 90-day period, it was interesting to see the Tweets that garnered the most engagements and impressions, as at times, I did not expect certain Tweets to perform as well as they did. Conversely, I was intrigued at which Tweets were left off of the list.
Below areΒ 10 of my best performing Tweets:
Thank you for giving me hope that a woman can make it in this world, @HillaryClinton. I'll never stop believing in you, or in myself.

This Tweet, written at an emotionally charged time, performed the second best for the 90-day period. I believe this is due in part to the fact that everyone was scrolling Twitter at 12:30AM on election night, and individuals on Twitter at the time were looking to others to engage with and support.

This Tweet was posted at the height of the American Horror Story season 6 viewing. I broke into the conversation with the hashtag #AHS6, and I believe that using an interesting bit of media added to the engagements.

This Tweet was one of my first constructed for the class. Using the #NHsmc hashtag, I delved into a topic that was too real for students walking to class at the time. By incorporating an interesting GIF, this Tweet was a hit amongst my peers visiting the #NHsmc hashtag and others alike.
So thankful to be a part of @SUPanhellenic and to @gammaphisu for their courage in remembering 9/11 tonight #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/yevBGgIu0S

By getting a Retweet from @SUPanhellenic, my Tweet suddenly became visible to many more followers. With a message everyone could get on board with, I was not surprised that this garnered a high amount of engagement.
#FollowFriday: @wevotebecause … A brand new Twitter for the #SU student-run voting initiative, #Because!! π #nhsmc pic.twitter.com/DOZANHvD80

Impressions: 649 Engagements: 34
With two Retweets and an image that encompassed the fun of Twitter and Snapchat, I was delighted that this was one of my top Tweets. It was done explicitly so that others would get on board with the #BecauseSYR initiative and @WeVoteBecause, and I think by getting a high engagement rate it did just that.

This Tweet was constructed after a long day of getting out the vote on the SU campus as Hillary Clinton. After I “made” the public Snapchat stories across the country, I decided to further promote my persona using the hashtags #ImWithHer and #Election2016 to join the conversation already happening on Twitter on election day.
Hey @facebook, you're a news site. You need to manage your community standards, re: fake news. S/o @jmgrygiel #NHsmc pic.twitter.com/ZBnxCRCMim

As a part of a growing issue regarding fake news, I decided to hop in and add my 2 cents on Twitter. By reaching out to @facebook, using the the search team “fake news,” and tagging #NHsmc as well, I hoped that individuals interested in the topic would see the post and engage with me as well.
#FunFact about me.. This time next week I'll be the #POTUS. Also I'll be in this outfit, beware. #NHsmc #ElectionDay pic.twitter.com/qz7HsCnuGf

With 4 popular hashtags and a (if I do say so myself) Hill-arious image, this unfortunately incorrect Tweet was meant to garner hype surrounding Election Day. While “I” didn’t end up winning, the 130 media engagements that I recieved on this Tweet show the power of using an interesting image on any social platform.

This pleasing image and alliteration-filled copy, plus a shoutout to my favorite convenience store/South Jersey haven made this Tweet one of my favorites. By showing the “basic” in me, I capitalized on the fall aesthetic, which I believe my followers were keen to respond to.

By utilizing a popular Twitter technique (in a “starter pack”-esque manner), I was able to add humor into a “collage” Tweet for #NHsmc. I played up on Fetty Wap’s lack of appearance at Juice Jam 2016, while also finding a way to incorporate #SyracuseUniversity and some of my coveted Β #Foodstagrams.
