The Jury is out! Were people sold on New York’s Basketball Tradition?

With this collage I posted on Imgur, I wanted to be able to get the Knicks more followers. My other goal was to also give the Knicks fans, who have a negative taste in their mouth from the team not playing so well, a little bit of a positive outlook on their favorite NBA franchise. I felt as though a tweet with all time greats and the court and Knicks logo would perform well with New York fans especially since it shows their team in a lighter, much nicer sense.. A lot of them want what I want for there just to be some type of positive attitude as the Knicks move towards the future.

Here is my collage on the New York Knicks.

A Knicks State of Mind

Here is how my collage fared when it came to people actually engaging and seeing the tweets and content. As you can see some days were better than others but on Saturday April 9th, the picture received a fair amount of looks. No other day got to the 1,000 impression threshold other than that Saturday.

A Knicks State of Mind Analytics

This tweet sent out on April 6th was the peak of all impressions and clicks for the entire campaign. Not even a whole days worth of impressions and clicks on April 9th compared to the engagement this particular tweet saw on its given day.

Impressions and Clicks

At the end of it all my mini collage may have had its share of impressions and clicks but not a real overwhelming number amount of views on the Imgur website. This had to do with the way the campaign on twitter was so narrow and inefficient to getting many people to look at the content.

My number of views on Imgur for Viral Content

Something I could work on is maybe trying to broaden my reach. As you can see my collage only received 81 views. I put that the state in the campaign should primarily be New York. What I found out was that there are plenty of Knicks fans around the country that could have seen the content that I put up. Next time I work on something like this I will know to promote the tweet up to different cities, even the entire United States, so that it gets the most exposure as possible from Knicks fans but also from NBA fans as well.

A lot of this also has to do with luck. I had a friend who posted a video of his father celebrating the Villanova win in the College Basketball National Championship. That one video in one try got over 600 retweets and 1000 likes. This particular collage didn’t get quite that number. But I’m still proud of what I was able to accomplish with Twitter Ads. Without it I do not think I would have gotten as many likes on my post if I sat aroun and did nothing to promote it.  So for that, I am grateful Twitter.
