The Results of Being Active on Social Media

Being active on Social Media is one of the main reasons why our audience can easily grow. When I first opened my Twitter account, I never thought about the importance of feeding my followers with information and topics that matter. For that reason, I only had a few followers; 127 to be exact. After taking this class and being active on Twitter, my audience grew and I now have 374 followers. I believe that if I continue on posting things on Twitter repeatedly, I will get more followers.
Following people you know or people with the same passion an/or goals is also an effective way to get followers back.

Take a look at my top 10 Tweets for the semester:

I believe this tweet got a lot of engagement because it talked about a great cause, which is creating awareness for sexual assault survivors. It also included the hashtag #ItsOnUs which has gotten a lot of attentino after Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign. Also, it got re-tweeted 5 fives.

The reason why this Tweet got a lot of engagements is because it was funny and it included a picture. Also, it was re-tweeted four times and that influences the amount of engagements.

In this post I talked about my accomplishments in Newhouse. In my opinion, people like to see when someone is doing great things and for that reason this post got 8 likes. Again, I used a picture doing something I love very much: Reporting 🙂

In this post, I used a picture with some of my friends while watching the Women’s basketball team playing.  I used the hashtag #IBleedOrange because both Orange teams made it to the #FinalFour and everyone was showing their support for them.

In this post, I forgot to include the class hashtag, but this was the post where we were asked to say something positive about someone else. I chose to tag influential people in this post such as The Chainsmokers, University Union and of course Jessie. Also, I chose to do this because University Univision had just announced The Chainsmokers were performing and I am their biggest fan 🙂

I posted this picture because we had just made it to the Final Four and we played UNC, a school which is very close to Duke University. Since our school is very passionate about sports and about beating Duke, I though posting this picture of a tailgate in the snow would be cool. Plus, most of my good friends are in this picture.

Ahead of the NY Primary, I thought it was a good idea to talk about Republican front-runner Donald Trump since two of his children didn’t vote.

In order to make it to Final Four we had to beat Virginia, which was number 1 team at the moment. For that reason, I chose to interview Matt Reil whos knows a lot about sports.

Since I have a lot of journalists on my Twitter account, I just wanted to let them know the top 100 television markets in the nation. I believe this is really helpful, especially now that most of us are graduating.

President Obama’s visit to Cuba got a lot of coverage nationally and internationally. It was the first time in years since a president of the United States traveled to Cuba. As a Cuban, I congratulate Obama for his bravery and honesty to the Cuban government and the Cuban people. I wanted to use a poll to see whether people believed this visit could bring positive changes to the island.
