ANALYSIS:

What worked was sharing my image to the community of Imgur– that skyrocketed the views to 300 more than it was previously. The majority of my views came from Imgur, as I only received 49 engagement with the advertised webcard. It worked that my audience was “business and finance” because it was the community of people who would find a post like this amusing. It worked that I tweeted out at 3 pm EST each time because that’s the best opportunity for large numbers of  engagement with the tweet. It worked having the font in large letters (I tested the smaller letters and that didn’t do so well) and on the webcard so that it was title safe. The comments from Imgur were amusing and they pointed out that taxes are actually due April 18 this year not April 15! If I were to further test the effectiveness of this meme, I’d A/B test one that says April 18th. It might also be interesting to put this out into the community now to see how people would react to the closer deadline. It worked using #Jaws as I got the Jaws community pulled in. What didn’t work was the wrong deadline, spending on advertisements (the amount of engagement wasn’t worth it in the long run for the amount spent), and my objective/strategy being generic in the marketing plan (more specific and creative plan would have given more concrete evidence as to what worked).
